Did you know that the Voyager 1 & 2 spacecrafts were launched in August (Voyager 2) and September (Voyager 1) of 1977 and they are still going to this day; over 40 years later. Their original mission was to conduct closeup studies of Jupiter and Saturn, Saturn’s rings, and the larger moons of the two planets. They are currently traveling at over 35,000 miles per hour, and both are still sending information back to us every single day. Voyager 1 has actually now left our solar system . Since they’ve accomplished their original mission and are going far beyond what anyone originally thought, their mission has been updated. So just what the heck does this have to do with my blog today? Well, I’m glad you asked.
Back then no one thought it would be possible for something to last for over 40 years in space or that we’d be receiving information from outside our solar system. Heck, their original mission was risky in and of itself. How did is all come to be? How did something once thought high risk and virtually impossible become possible? The simple answer is one step at a time – one day at a time – dedication.
The journey that I am on to become the best version of myself is just like those Voyager crafts. It all started from a vision that someone had. Then came the hard work to make that vision and dream a reality; design it, built it, test it, launch it, manage and maintain it, while overcoming many obstacles along the way. With daily dedication to the mission it became a reality. Not only did it become reality, the really cool part is that it has gone far beyond anyone’s expectations of what was actually possible.
My belief in my dreams is not always very strong which leads to doubt. The doubt then leads to procrastination which in turn becomes a loss in forward progress and momentum and of course this circles back around to more doubt. What I need to remember on my journey is that one simple step at a time adds up. It’s the consistent action towards our dreams that make them come true. Self-doubt, obstacles and challenges, naysayers, and the like will always be around. But if we can boil it down to one small step at a time and stay consistent we can achieve anything we want. And, like the Voyager, we may be completely surprised by what lies beyond our current vision of what is possible and achieve things and impact lives in ways we can’t even imagine today.
Remember that going to the moon and flying were once thought to be impossible. The hours, days, months, and years will pass by – that is something we have no control over. What we choose to do with that time is what we do control; the actions and steps we take today are what determine our future. When self-doubt creeps in – keep going! When procrastination creeps up – keep going! When naysayers including our internal dialogue creeps in – keep going! Just keep moving one step at a time, one day at a time! This is how dreams become reality and how we can become the best versions of ourselves and beyond! This is what I am committed to doing for myself and for those that I am meant to serve and impact!
